I can say what my wife hated about NCL following our Alaskan Inner Passage cruise on Norwegian Sun. We really objected to being ripped off over drinks prices. The words "extortionate", ""exhorbitant" and "outrageous" come to mind. Furthermore, if you bought a bottle at the shop onboard you were not allowed to keep it ... it was given back to you on your final evening. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT??!! Also, you could not sit down anywhere without a waiter asking you if you wanted a drink. For a civilised approach to cruising try P & O. Now, they know how to treat their guests with old-fashioned British curtesy. Acceptable prices for drinks, no pressure to sell you drinks and acceptable prices at the dining table. Also, tiping is done in a the traditional way ... i.e. you hand over English curency personally, in an envelope, to your cabin steward and table staff ... now that's my idea of cruising. The informality strangely enough! The main problem though was that they are used to being able to come and go as they please in the P & O kid's club ... and when they saw that mum or dad would have to sign them out on Jade, they refused to go!
