We live in St Helens and are also going on this cruise and have never sailed from Dover before.
Don't know wether to drive and park, use National Express or train or use Battersby Coaches.
Have you any recommendations about the best way to get there?

I also havn't sailed from Dover before and have decided to go down using Battersby Coaches. I am picking the coach up at Knutsford Services and the cost is £80.00. To go by National Express it is a lot cheaper but not as convenient as the pickup is earlier, have to change coaches in London and it arrives at Dover later and as there is a special Bleriot Centenary Celebration going on in Dover that weekend there could be delays. Previously I have drove down to Southampton with my husband but as I am travelling on my own this time it makes more sense for me to go by coach. I hope we meet up on the ship, my mother was from St. Helens and I have many relatives there. Best wishes.

Many thaks for your answer and useful information.I thought that Battersby may be the best option also but when I rang recently they said the bus was full.
Will just have to drive down and park in Southampton as National Express is a bit of a pain with changing in London as you say.
Look forward to Boudicca sailing out of Liverpool next year.
Hopefully may bump into you on the ship, have a great cruise.

Mainly tourist trap shops when I was there on a Sunday last September. Avoid organised city tour; waste of money. Get a bus or whwatever.

Thank you for your reply. I am planning to get on the hopper bus to see the sights, especially the La Segrada Familia church as it is some years since I last visited but I don't suppose I will notice much difference in the building work.

I saw it after a break of 30 years - almost no change !! Nice and Cannes worth a trip if you're going near there.

I would expect all shops to be open as it is a tourist place as they were when we visited last year, but why would you want to go shopping in such a beautiful city.
I suppose some people do.
Why do you not google to find out about Marseille, but I am sure it wil be worth walking into depending on where you dock and having a look around.

Thank you for your comment about Marseille, I have taken your advice and googled it and found out about the old part of the city with its galleries, museums and churches. I have visited Barcelona several times previously and do hope to go on the hopper bus for a tour of the sights but I also like to buy a few presents for my family especially young grandchildren.
