July 2008 did a Baltic cruise on the Balmoral enjoyed it so much we went on it again in June 2009 cabins are quite reasonable we were pleased with ours, food is very good and the drinks are a fair price,as a person who gets sea sick quite easily i found there was no motion on this ship at all,it's a lovely ship and we will certainly sail on it again.

Just came off the balmoral, plenty of food but very bland, potatoes were always transparent when at this time of year you can get decent new ones. Wine prices ok a reasonable white or red Australia @£13, ship fairly roomy, you can get all your luggage in the wardrobes etc. without some in your cases unlike the Braemar (dependant on cabin selection).

The cabis are of good size and if anything larger than the average P & O ships. The food is good and the staff five star. The wine prices and bar prices are very competative. The House Wines are very good. No complaint regarding vibration. Unable to comment on the lower deck.

Olsen's older/smaller ships are a major part of the Olsen appeal.

The Fred. Olsen fleet are all older, smaller ships. They cannot be compared with the monster vessels which appear each year. They have advantages in that they can visit places which the large ships cannot reach. In addition, they are more personal. You are not just a cabin number. Service is first rate and personal. The cabins are a reasonable size. If you pay more you get larger accommodation. Wine and bar prices compare well with pub prices in the UK - they are certainly less than on the American cruise lines. There are few ships which are vibration free but after 23 cruise on Fred. Olsen ships I must say this has never been a problem.

Hi, I am taking my 80 year old Auntie on her first cruise sailing to the Baltic on Sunday on Balmoral. I booked a last minute guarantee superior outside cabin and have just heard it in 8065 with a restricted view, do you have any experience of this grade? any info greatly appreciated. I hoped we might have had an upgrade but there you go I took a gamble which didn't pay off... Thank you carol

I haven't travelled in this grade of cabin but know people who have. The cabin itself will be quite adequate but there is a lifeboat right outside which restricts the view. Much depends how active the lady is and how much time she would wish to spend in the cabi. Why not look at the deck plan on the Fred. Olsen website. Sorry can't be more help.

Are there alternatives to the on-demand films shown on the interactive television on Balmoral. We have cruised many times, but never had to pay to watch films
