I'm on the Queen Vic' at end of Oct', and also arrive at Rotterdam at midday. What excellent info' you have all given. I'll be using your advice to take the train to Amsterdam as as you quite rightly say, the tours can work out expensive.
Thanks everyone

Yes go to the train station in Rotterdam,we went in June this year got the complimentary bus from QM2 to the the station, very helpfull staff gave us a special offer first class return 13 euros each, takes about 45 minutes, train -clean-quite and fast, very strange to us.when you get to Amsterdam go out of the station cross the bridge and just walk straightdown the road two minutes your in the shopping centre. You will come to a shop selling Europes prize winning chips on the right hand side, there will be a queue but dont miss trying them whatever you do.

As already said - let the train take the strain. A nice alternative would be to take the train to Delft. No more than 15 minutes with 4 trains an hour. The train stops close to the town centre & I guarantee you'll enjoy this beautiful little town. Great bars, restaurants etc.

Chris, Romsey has the journey spot on. Why not stay in Rotterdam it has enough for a days sightseeing. The Euro tower, maritime museum, river tours etc enough for a day and all within walking distance from the ship although the Euro tower is maybe a little too far but a short taxi ride.

Hi, we are on this cruise too and have decided it's too far to go to Amsterdam so have decided to go on the Windmills trip. Hope to go and find somewhere in Cherbourg to have a decent lunch, even though it's a Sunday, and then in Zeebruge my husband is doing the Medieval Ghent trip and I'm going to stay on the ship. On such a short trip I decided I wanted time to explore and enjoy the ship as it's our first time on the ship. Carole

To Rotterdam Central station by metro or tram, but easliest by taxi - about 15 euro. Then frequent trains about 50 miles to Amsterdam Central Station, takes about 75 mins, fare about 13 euros e/w Amsterdam Central is at the bottom of Damrak, the main tourist avenue close to canal trips, palace, red light district, etc. There's an option of the fast FYRA train, journey time about 45 mins, supplement payable.See http://www.ns.nl/cs/Satellite/travellers ................Chris
