Brooklyn Cruise Terminal can take hours to get past all the roadworks and is in a very rundown part of town.
But there are loads of Police around so you are safe...

Thanks for your answers. So are there plenty of taxis?? I don't know how to get into central NY with lots of luggage and an elderly husband.

Cunard arrange coaches which drop off in downtown NY, and there seemed plenty of room for luggage. One tip from someone who has done about 16 transatlantics - you won't need nearly as many clothes as you are planning. We always take too much!

Lots of taxis and queues organised by a dispatcher who may help you to the front of the queue with your elderly husband if necessary.
