Why bother with Amsterdam, hire a car and go to Gouda and see the cheese market then onto Den Hague and marvel at the gardens and houses and visit Maduradam, the miniaturised village with the world's famous buildings. Then go on to Wassenaar and spend the rest of the day on the beach. Or go to Lisse at the right time of the year, the bulb cebtre of the world and the superb gardens at Keukenhof. Or go the other way and spend the day in de Efteling a famous animated park full of the stories of famous children's writers and back viaBreda to the town square and but some frits mit mayonaise or a nasi ball and a Hollands Bier. Wonderful places and great people, save Amsterdam for your next cruise when the ship goes right into the city. .......Neil

There is nothing in Rotterdam, so yes. Amsterdam ios a great city, and iis not just for the red light district. Try and see the diamond centre. It will open your eyes to some gems.

Yes! Rotterdam is a giant commercial port with little worth seeing (although Rotterdammers might tell you otherwise). Amsterdam, on the other hand, is a tourist paradise. It is only too easy to do it yourself. There is a highly efficient rail service between the two cities, every 10-15 minutes. The journey takes about 1 hour. The day return fare is 24.30Euros (14.60Euros disc.). You can even look up which train you can catch. http://www.ns.nl/cs/Satellite/travellers Enter Rotterdam Central and Amsterdam Centra. Trust this helps.l
