We did the two-day complete St Petersburg Tour with Alla Tour which we found to be excellent. Saw most of the major sites and had early entry into the Hermitage, thus avoiding the crowds. I think it works out a bit cheaper if you can pre-arrange a group but it is not necessary. We were allocated to a group on the first morning and it worked very well. Check out the website for more details www.alla-tour.com.

Alla 2 days would be the best value if you can get a van full, the ships are not Cheap but good we did the canals and Peter & Paul church and the Russian museum with Church on the blood both are half day,we pre booked via the net and paid in £ the exchange rate has gone better since then so it may pay to wait until your on board before buying.
If you go with Alla then remember to print all the Paper work as 4 people were not allowed into Russia due to not having correct paper work, Celebrity will get you all together so you can meet your tours on time.

We enjoyed Peterhof. The queues were quite lengthy and I would have preferrred more time in the gardens, but we also had a city tour, with photo stops and lunch in an old 'palace' hotel, which was lovely. I gather all tours stop at the state shop. It is a very full day so we didn't book an evening tour. Of the people who did, the folklore show seemed more enjoyable than the ballet. The people who went to the Hermitage said it was so packed they couldn't see much and if you are not good with crowds it would be as well to miss it. The river/canal trips were very popular. Hope this helps. Judith

We enjoyed the visit to the palace where Rasputin was killed, one of the few not ramsacked and the river cruise... the second was the visit to the hermitage but only if you are in to history and some of the greatest paintings you can virtually touch in the world plus a tour of the city..... if you are lucky seeing all the brides kissing the feet of the statues or being carried over the bridge, near the market make the trip special....cannot say children would be interested in the Hermitage though. Also the river trip are in boats where you sit at the rear so watch the weather forcast you could get very wet.,,,Hope it helps
