a QUESTION by barrie (21 Jun 09 23:44)
From my bar bill 2 weeks ago White wine $31per bottle Daily special cocktail $5-50 can of sprite $2-0 glass of red $6-50 the daily specials are not that strong ?all seemed to be premixed.
The savings that can be made are by pre booking as Bill says below the rate they are using at present is about $1-42 to the pound but you do not pay the 15% gratuity and you can have the wine for your room or table you may wish to book a soda package if you drink it.
you will get a letter telling you that you are in the auto tipping and you need to go to guest relations to opt out or you can adjust the amounts you pay up or down.if you have plenty of $ left you can pay something of your bill at anytime, very nice ship have a great time.

One point I failed to mention is if you order Whisky and lemonade or Gin and tonic they won't give you the cheapest. I know that gin it is Gordon's which is the cheaper one and for me Captain Morgan's spice or equivalent and this all helps keep your costs down, finding out the price nowadays is a little more difficult as they don't display the prices as wells as they did....Bill

You can pre-book your wine have a look at their site http://www.celebritycruises.com/bonvoyage/viewCategory.do?cat=SPIRIT&pager_offset=4 and if there are any you fancy you can save by buying before you go and the wine will be in your stateroom on arrival. The other saving is on pre-paying your gratutiies it is around $12 per day per person = $336 so if you can prepay and get them for £170 ish you will save, worth looking at, not so great a saving now the pound is stronger. As far as drinks go we have one before our meal now there are no measures so you get at least a double then we have a bottle of wine split over two nights then 2/3 after our meal and our two drinks with mixes came to $13.98 or around £8.80, or working out at £4.40 each for doubles, not bad for a 4/5 star ship...Bill

You're not going on the cheapest line for drinks. We are not big drinkers but just back of a 12 night RCI cruise, a few beers &/or cocktails on deck during the day, a pre dinner drink, a bottle of wine over dinner each night, & 2 or 3 drinks in the bar before bed. Total drinks bill £750. Celebrity prices are higher, particularly wine, plus you're doing a couple of extra nights. I never worry whilst I'm on board, I let visa or mastercard do the paying & also in your favour, the pound is creeping back up on the dollar. It is not normal practice to pay in cash at the end of cruise, you register your credit card on boarding & wait for your credit card bill to hit the doormat a month later.......Wilba

Wilba, I am so glad you know how to enjoy yourself and don't spend your time moaning about the cost and the service charge. I can clearly see you have a good time on your cruises .... that's perhaps why you have been on 61 of them. Here's to your 100th and wishing you continued enjoyment and good drinking.
