How this score is created
Carnival Paradise is the eighth (and final) in a series of eight ships of the same series of eight Carnival Fantasy-class ships, with the same internal configuration and layout. It is good for first-time passengers and those seeking party-style cruising. The ship has a forthright, angular appearance typical of today’s space-creative designs. It is one of only two of the Carnival Fantasy-class ships (the other is Carnival Elation) to have been provided with a “pod” propulsion system.
The ship has expansive open deck areas (there is no walk-around open promenade deck), but they quickly become inadequate when it is full and everyone wants to be out on deck (the aft decks tend to be less noisy, whereas all the activities are focused around the main swimming pool and hot tubs).
The interior decor includes splashy, showy, public rooms and interior colors – pure Las Vegas, ideal for some tastes. Public entertainment lounges, bars and clubs galore offer something for everyone, including a large children’s playroom. Some busy colors and design themes abound in the handsome public rooms. Much of the eclectic art collection is bright and eye-catching. The Blue Riband library: nice room, few books, but there are models of ocean liners.
Good hangout place: the atrium lobby bar, with live music. Facilities include a shop stuffed with low-quality merchandise; a large casino with gaming tables for blackjack, craps, roulette, Caribbean stud poker, plus slot machines.
