You will probably be in port every day so if you have a Quad band phone on a contract (pay as you go don’t seem to work at a lot of places outside Europe) then this is the easiest way to do it. You can also ring home from your cabin phone at any time but it costs, last cruise was $9 per minute, and if they ring you then it is almost as expensive.

Go to www.carnival.com and click on Help (top line) then FAQ's. Scroll down to Shore to Ship communications. Alternatively phone Carnival on 0207 940 4466 and ask. Personally I'd take a mobile phone (preferably quad band) and await their text message. Don't forget to remind them that there is a time difference and not to phone before 2pm.
