9/10 Apr: Dubai, UAE
(overnight)
Believe everything you’ve heard about Dubai – it truly is that incredible. Honestly, where else on earth can you ski both in a shopping centre and out in the desert? As one of the world’s fastest growing cities, Dubai has emerged as a premier luxury travel destination, drawing visitors from all over the globe. Its dry and sunny weather, incredible shopping experiences and unique tourist attractions have helped to turn it into a bona fide hot spot where ancient
11 Apr: Muscat, Oman
As one of the Middle East’s oldest cities dating back to the 2nd century AD, it’s hard to believe that Muscat has been open to tourists for only a few decades. But seeing is believing! From the beautifully manicured parks and long, unspoiled stretches of beach to the stone moat that still surrounds the area, it is clear that Oman’s monarchy has worked hard to protect the rich history and small, safe neighbourhood feel of its capital city.
12/13 Apr:
AT SEA
14 Apr: Cochin, India
One of the finest natural harbours on the Arabian coast of India, Kochi (also known as Cochin) was once known as the centre of the Indian spice trade. Nowadays, the town has a distinct European feel, due to the fact that it was once inhabited by the Portuguese, Dutch and English. Their influence on the town’s forts, palaces, museums and old churches is still evident today. Which is why Kochi is known as the ‘Queen of the Arabian Sea’.
15 Apr:
AT SEA
16 Apr: Goa (Mormugao), India
How can you resist a place whose local motto is ‘Sossegade’, which translates to ‘Take it Easy’? Long a favourite destination for New Age travellers seeking the transcendent good life, these days Goa is more hip than hippie. Upmarket restaurants and shopping now complement the dreamy beach life and Goa’s easygoing streets make an easy and rewarding first introduction to India. Goa’s historical atmosphere, shaped by a fascinating mix of Portuguese and Indian influences, is unique. The Portuguese were here for some 500 years and their presence can still be felt in customs like the siesta the easygoing Goans take every afternoon. Sossegade!
17/18 Apr: Mumbai (Bombay)
The Hollywood of India, Mumbai (previously known as Bombay) is a unique city pulsating with energy, life and excitement. You can find everything from vibrant street scenes and the country’s best nightlife to an abundance of shops. The city serves as both the financial and entertainment capital of India, so you are just as likely to see a famous ‘Bollywood’ film star as you are a high-powered businessman. With all there is to see and do, you’ll discover that Mumbai truly lives up to its billing as the ‘City of Dreams’.
