DON’T BE A SCRUFFBAG!

I am sure many of you are familiar with this term, I for one remember my Mum saying this to me growing up! You could guarantee I would walk out dressed in my Sunday best and mud would just find me!!! I find myself saying the same to my own daughter, at just six has an unusual style as well as finding dirt– she would quite happily walk out in a ballet skirt, black leggings and hoodie! When we cruise my husband politely tells her due to the confined space to just wear what Mum puts out. The rest of the time we try and let her be her!!!

Black Friday & Cyber Monday???

These days you cannot fail to notice that ‘Black Friday’ is now a very big thing in the UK! When I think of ‘Black Friday’, I conjure up images of a chilly winters day in New York and seeing people dressed up warm, shopping in Macy’s…

Tantrum & Tears on the Tyne

Before we arrived back in Southampton on our voyage taking in Norway, Iceland and Scotland on the splendid Norwegian Jade we stopped in Newcastle.

Prior to arrival, we knew we wanted to spend a few hours in Tynemouth. However luckily for us there was a free shuttle service there via the outlet mall – the guests who took the shuttle wanting the city centre were a little annoyed as thought was too far out of the way, but for us it was perfect.

Taste of Norway

I hope you have enjoyed my blogs about my recent cruise on the Norwegian Jade. As part of the cruise we stopped in the ports of Bergen and Alesund. Most cruises to this region just take in the Fjords for a minimum of seven nights, but as we were sailing north to Iceland we only had two days there. However, I thoroughly enjoyed both ports, so much so that this has cemented my enthusiasm for Norway, and I want to go back!

This blog is dedicated to the ports in Scotland I visited during my cruise on NCL Jade, they were Shetlands, Orkneys, Invergordon and Newhaven for Edinburgh.

Mum’s Gone to Iceland!

I am pleased to say this summer instead of a visit to our local frozen food specialist, we did in fact cruise to Iceland the country!

If you remember my last blog was about my time on board Norwegian Jade, so this one is all about what we did in Iceland. We had two full days in Reykjavik as the ship was there overnight and then one day in the northern port of Akureyri.

Our Norwegian Jade Cruise

This year we decided to take the children on a 15-night trip onboard Norwegian Jade, sailing to Norway, Iceland and Scotland (plus a wee stop in Newcastle!). It turned out to be such a special cruise and the children absolutely adored their second cruise, in fact if they would live on a ship if they could!

Getting Ready for my Cruise!

I remember when I was a girl, I grew up with my most organised Mum, everything was neat and tidy even socks were ironed! Holiday packing was done with military precision. As I write this I am in midst of chaos as four of us plan for our 15-night cruise – but I will be ready in time. Thankfully we have all been allocated jobs (if mine is not ironing we will all be fine!).

Teenage Tantrums!

This is the time of year I always get feedback relating to teenagers on board, some people underestimate how many there can be, but sadly some of the feedback relates to the odd few misbehaving and upsetting other guests.

You’re Going Where?

Most of us have the same ‘Bucket List’ destinations. Many of us want to do the Great Wall of China, Great Barrier Reef and so on, but some of us have dreams of getting off the beaten track or visit places we all know and do more unusual things.
