P&O – Iona – more information…

P&O have announced that the Oriana will be leaving the P&O fleet in August 2019. A shock for some but not for others. Shame really they have the need to sell her as she fits in really well with clients that like the mid size ships. Oriana has a very big loyal following so I am sure its was a decision they made lightly.

Staying in the news P&O have also revealed a SkyDome plan for their new ship Iona. Brand new for P&O the SkyDome willl provide a new home for on board entertainment from a night club to a boutique cinema.

This unique all weather space is located on decks 16 and 17 and I think will be one of the most talked about attractions on board. She will also feature an impressive roof and a pool with retractable stage.

In the day it will be the perfect place for relaxtion and informal dining, by night the SkyDome will come alive with spectacular aerial performances, immersive shows and deck parties.

The dome roof was designed by award winning British engineers Eckersley O’Callaghan, the team behind glass masterpieces such as London’s Embasyy Gardens Sky Pool and Burgari’s flagship New York Boutique, which i must admit had to google to take a look and wow what an amazing building.

There is lots in store for the Iona from Music and cocktails in the 710 Club (which is being billed as Iona’s secret spot) to classic and modern jazz to swing. They are certainly trying to cater for all age groups. If you are a film buff then Ocean Studios will be your first choice.

The Iona will go on sale in September – watch this space for further updates…
