I did it!!!

Last weekend I completed in the London Moonwalk – what an amazing but very emotional experience.

Our group “The Girls from the Ditch” meet at 5pm where we had arranged for a mini bus to take us all down to London.  We had to be in Clapham Common for 9pm so we had plenty of time to get down there.  The day didn’t quite go to plan for my sister who was joining me on the walk, her Grandson decided to come 2 weeks early and arrived at 2.30 in the afternoon, so after being up since 4.30 Saturday morning and not thinking she was going to make the walk her husband rushed her to the services on the way to London where we meet her!!  There was no way she was going to miss not coming – we had all trained so hard for this.

Wow what an amazing atmosphere at the meeting point, so many girls and guys had decorated their bras and themselves in 1920’s style.  This was the start of a very emotional but amazing journey.

We eventually started walking at 11.45 and took 8.5 hours to complete. We walked 26.2 miles through the night, at the start the atmosphere was fantastic, cars were beeping us, people would come and join you for a bit, then in the early hours of the morning we witnessed lets just say a few very merry people – which I am sure suffered the next morning!!

London at night really is amazing, Tower Bridge, Albert Bridge, Buckingham Palace at night walking round makes you realise how lucky we are.

A few tears were shed at the end and I will never forget this.  As a team (11 girls) we have raised so far over £4000!!

Question is would I do this again, if you asked me straight after the walk I would have said no, but I’ve changed my mind now and would definitely do it again!!
