Another hot topic on gratuities

Gratuities always seem to be hot topic whether at the dinner table on board your cruise or on cruise forums getting information before your cruise starts. Some think they should be compulsory and are part of the cruise cost, others like to tip at their own discretion or maybe not tip at all!!

My blog last week was about whether children should pay gratuities, it was great to hear your views on this and I have to admit it was a real mixed bag.

Today P&O have released they will no longer add on the discretionary daily service charge. From May 2019 (cruises A911, B912, E911/A, J903, N910, R907, X907 and all thereafter), the discretionary daily service charge on board will be removed so you can relax knowing it’s all taken care of.

Of course this leads to the question, will P&O increase their prices to cover this fee within the cruise cost? Will be interesting to see when they launch their new programme.

What are your thoughts to this?

Remember if you are cruising before May 2019 P&O will still charge £7.00 per person per day for guests aged 12 and over. This is because changes take a little time to put in place.
