New home port for Jade!

Exciting news from Norwegian cruise line this week, in an announcement from their head office, that after receiving a complete multi-million pound refit spring the NCL Jade will officially be spending the 2017 summer season departing from our very own Southampton.

This is a big thrill for NCL fans who have been pleading with the cruise line to bring their departures to the UK growing cruise market since 2010 . The mid-sized 2,402 passenger-ship will sail through out the summer to Europe for 7-9 night durations including destinations such as Holland, Belgium, France the Fjords and even a 4 night mini break to Hamburg.

In their announcement, NCL executives said they were responding to customer feedback in their decision to strengthen the company’s position in northern Europe.

“Part of it is reflective of the growth of the company,” said Harry Sommer, Executive vice president  of international Development.

“A few years back we only had eight or nine ships and it was difficult to respond to demand for a UK-based ship, but now we have 14 ships.”

Francis Riley, Vice President International Operations, said there was confidence in the UK business but while Wilkinson acknowledged that some British cruise fans preferred not to fly he said: “We know there is a strong market for ex-UK cruises but there is so much you can do on a fly-cruise.”

The NCL Jade already Boasts  choice of nineteen different dining options, an amazing choice of entertainment, activities and a bright vibrant feels throughout the ship. How can they possibly add to this fantastic ship? Well as soon as we have exact details of her refurbishment I will let you know.

Over the last few years NCL have expanded there fleet allowing them to make such moves like this. Introducing the Breakaway, Escape and also the getaway which I was lucky enough to spend a night on.
