According to reports, music Sensation Ed Sheeran best known for songs like “Thinking out loud” and “Give me love” recently chose Cunard’s iconic Queen Mary 2 to spend some quality time to secretly write song for his new comeback album.

Sources say that the grammy award winning singer arrived at New York docks out of the blue along with his record producer friend asking for a “Cheap no fuss cabin”. Once on board Ed requested the use of a small quiet space with no windows where he could use the time  during his transatlantic back to Southampton to write lyrics for his 3rd highly anticipated album. Cunard were happy to accommodate the 25 year old superstar and found him a quiet meeting room in the bowl of the ship amongst the crew quarters.

During his stay he keep with his usual casual fashion meaning we wouldn’t be able to use the formal dining however he was more than happy to confined to the informal dining in the newly refurbished Kings court buffet  and passengers said he was extremely laid back, very chatty and welcoming to other passengers.

Ed has been out of public eye since last December following leaving his adoring fans this message on Instagram “I’m taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while I’ve had such an amazing ride over the last five years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes so I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed.”

Cunard are not new to welcoming celebrities on board in previous years they have seen everyone from Mick Jagger to Elizabeth Taylor, Uma Thurman to Nelson Mandela! However I bet none of these would have been so down to earth than the lovely Ed.

Were you on the most recent transatlantic sailing on Queen Mary 2? Did you meet Ed at the omelette station? I would love to hear your stories.

Until next time

Marie
