Hard Working Princess

So we have come to my final instalment from my recent trip on Caribbean Princess. So far i have told you about the wonderful ship and fantastic mouth watering food, but this week I want to tell you about my Behind the scenes tour and their AMAZING staff.

So ask yourself , How often you do pre pay your tips? Do you always hold off and tip the people that have looked after you directly? Whether you do or don’t here are just a few of the unsung heros you miss out on seeing that work hard to make sure you have a fantastic holiday.

Laundry staff.

In the Caribbean Princess, the onboard laundries operate 24 hours a day and  washes tons and tons of guest and crew linens, towels, table clothes and napkins including more than 20,000 towels a day alone. (I will never moan about my washing pile again)

Chiefs and Galley Staff.

Did you know that on a daily basis the Caribbean princess make around 15,000 desserts and  5,500 bread rolls around the clock. This is before you think about how many pancakes, omelette, crème brulee’s, steaks, lobsters, pizza’s, jugs of homemade lemonade, casseroles, curry’s they make. The list goes on forever , its making me tired and just a little hungry thinking about it.

Now the captains and officers probably dont get a share of the tips but i do think they deserve a mention as we were given the chance to meet the Bridge staff and learn about the state-of-the-art navigational equipment and safety systems on board.  (Did you know that cruise ships have indicators like cars? this baffled me)

Now with 1200 staff it would take me all week to tell you about……. the land crew who on disembarkation day handle around 5500 suit cases, or the entertainment staff, the pool cleaners, cabin staff, bar staff, concierge, maintenance staff  there really is no end to the amount of people that are there to look after us, i will certainly be keep this is mind when deciding on pre paying tips next time I cruise.

Did you know that you can pre book your own behind the scenes tour with Princess cruise lines, for a supplement of $150pp.

You too can be see the Backstage area, Galley to enjoy French champagne and Canapés , Engine room, incinerator room, Printer shop, Medical centre, photo lab, Main Laundry, the funnel and lastly the ship’s command centre the Bridge, where you  will meet the captain and his bridge team and learn about the systems they use. Guests will also take in the dramatic front-of-ship views from the bridge’s wraparound windows, while they enjoy special refreshments and pose with the captain at the ship’s wheel for a complimentary photo. The framed photo and a tour completion certificate signed by the captain will later be delivered to each participant’s stateroom.

So that  is it from my trip with Caribbean Princess we had a fantastic weekend. If you would like to know anything about offer Princess have currently , please call me on 0330 303 8260 or email me at [email protected]

Until next time

Marie
