For the love of cake!

Over the years when reading my blogs you will have seen me mention a few times about my hobby of dabbling in baking and cake decorating.

Whilst my skills are sometimes “trial n error” and mostly self taught I rarely turn down a opportunity to try a new recipe or style of cake, I find the challenge part of the fun.

April time for me is always the start of a busy few months for Birthdays, each year I ask my daughters what they would like on their birthday cakes ? And every year they love to test me with new ideas as you can see they are very imaginative.

This year is no different as this weekend we kicked off with my youngest daughter Ruby’s 6th Birthday. Ever since she was little she has been called the “Cake monster” as she loves cake and her favourite is obviously her mums. For her Cake this year Ruby was extremely excited as she has been waiting all year to be able to have a “Shopkins Smash cake” which is a giant cupcake filled with sweeties that breaks open like a piñata . She managed to keep the secret from her friends who thought she was crazy when we used a rolling pin to bash her cake and reveal the surprise.

So to Celebrate her birthday we stayed with the cake theme and I remembered a blog I wrote a few years back about Royal Caribbean offering children cupcake classes.

The result was 13, 6 year old girls some icing bags , decorations and we had our very own cupcake party.

Glad to say the finished product aka sugar rush went home with the girls………

And I was left with a very happy “Cake monster”

So what will my next challenge be? I have a few weeks until Abigail’s 10th Birthday and she has already told me she wants a Harry Potter Cake !!!! What have I let myself  in for?

Until next time

Marie x
