Istanbul is off the map again

In the aftermath of the Istanbul airport terrorist attack a few days ago various cruise lines have already acted quickly and cancelled Istanbul calls in their forth coming cruises. Celebrity have pulled off their 2 ships scheduled to depart from Istanbul over the next few months and will now depart from Athens Piraeus Port instead. Also canceling a visit to Istanbul on Wednesday was luxury line Seabourn. The line said a cruise on the 450-passenger Seabourn Odyssey scheduled to begin Saturday in Istanbul instead would begin in Piraeus. They have not cancelled yet any other later visits though. Other lines such as Norwegian cruise lines, MSC, Oceania and others already cancelled Turkey from previously. Regent and Oceania also have dropped calls in Turkey for 2017. Holland America are still assessing the situation and not yet cancelled any visits. This is another unfortunate situation that arise, same as Tunisia and Turkey (again) before. It is exactly what the terrorists want, to damage the tourist industry for those countries and to cause as much panic as possible to put people off travelling to those areas and it works. At one hand I think it’s a shame but then you can’t blame the cruise lines as their interest is to keep passengers safe and they will do nothing people then will worry themselves about travelling to those areas and put the pressure back on the cruise line. It’s a shame it does have to come to that but this is the way of the world at the moment, the main one to suffer out of this is Turkey’s economy as they will lose millions in tourism revenue from those cruise passengers and tourist in general who will think twice if to visit Turkey. Hopefully when all that will die out things will go back to normal, what do you think?Istanbul
