MSC’s First UK Christening in 11 Years…Bellissima!!

MSC Cruises are on my bucket list to sail on.  I have heard some fantastic reports from customers about these stunning ships and this latest news has got me even more excited about them.

MSC have announced they will be christening their new ship MSC Bellissima here in the UK next spring.  This is the first MSC ship to be christened here since the launch of the MSC Poesia in 2008.

Bellissima is going to be docked in Southampton for three days from 1st of March to 3rd of March 2019.  The naming ceremony will be taking place on the 2nd of March.

Here are some facts for you:

• Bellissima is the largest ship to be christened in the UK.  It weights 171,600 tonnes and holds 4,500 passengers
• MSC are expecting over 3,000 guests to visit the ship over the three days
• Film star Sophia Loren has been the godmother to all the MSC ships but Bellissima’s godmother is still to be confirmed

The ship’s first sailing will depart on the 4th of March on a seven night western Mediterranean itinerary sailing from Southampton to Genoa.

Bellissima is the sister ship to the MSC Meraviglia which was launched last year.  She will be operating seven night western Mediterranean itineraries for Summer 2019 before moving to Dubai for winter 2019-2020.

Here are some of the features you can look forward to on the Bellissima:

• Two new shows from Cirque Du Soleil
• A new French Bistro dining concept
• My favourite of all…boutiques selling British brands such as Radley designer handbags

I always get excited when new ships are launched and I hope I get the chance to go to Southampton to be there for the christening.
