Cruise Ship Rocks Out For A Good Cause – January 2017.

Grab your old tennis rackets from the back of the cupboard and get practicing those ‘air guitar’ moves, the 5th Rock Legends Cruise awaits! The Royal Caribbean Independence Of The Seas has been chartered for January 2017 for a fully fledged ‘Rock Fest’, all in the name of charity.

The ship is being chartered by the Native American Heritage Association (NAHA) with proceeds benefitting Native Americans living on reservations in South Dakota. Quite a specific charity, but at least you’ll be safe in the knowledge that while you’re ‘air shredding’ the night away you’ll being doing your bit for philanthropy.

$250 from each ticket goes directly to charitable causes, in addition to various auctions and raffles held aboard the ship. The price tag for the charter is believed to be around $2.6 million, according to Cruise Industry News’ estimates.

Lucky guests can expect over 60 bands/performers on the January sailing which will included Thin Lizzy (yes!), Pat Benatar,  REO Speedwagon, Creedence Clearwater Revisited,  John Mayall, Todd Rundgren, Nazareth, April Wine, The Kentucky HeadHunters and The Artimus Pyle Band (who?!).

The 4 night cruise on Independence Of The Seas sails from Fort Lauderdale on January 19th and takes in Cozumel, Mexico. What could be better than that? Rock music, beer (consumed in sensible quantities of course!) and the guaranteed sunshine of the Mexican Riviera!

Themed cruises such as these are becoming more an more popular, what would be your ideal themed cruise?

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Bye for now.
