MY experience on the Independence of the Sea

zzzz

My very first experience of the Independence of the Seas was amazing. I was very pleased with the ship and I would recommend it for anyone of any age group. She is a multi-generational ship and there is plenty do to for anyone. The ship is cleverly designed so guests who are not interested in the more active areas can easily stay away as they wouldn’t even bump into it or go past it at any time. The active areas are on the highest deck, ideal for children and teenagers but also suitable for grownups who are looking to do something different or take a challenge. The Rock Climbing wall is 44 Feet high and is used by very young children as young as 4 and up to any age. On the same deck there is a football/basketball court, crazy golf and the surf rider. It can get very busy here and queues are likely.

The H2O zone for the kids is great too, i saw kids of various ages having really good fun here. There are shallow areas too where toddlers, accompanied by adults, can have fun with various types of sprinklers floor prints. There are also different types of small swimming pools here, like a deeper swimming pool for swimming, a circle one that spins water round and a Jacuzzi ideal for parents who want to keep an eye on their children.

For gym lovers the gym is great, there are numerous machines to use all with sea views. There are also lessons and personal trainers able to assist.

The spa area is as relaxing and calming as you would expect at any other good spa, the products used are Elemis.

Indoor the main gathering area is the Promenade. I thought this would be a longer stretch as I imagined it much bigger. A great place for people watching. Here is what you imagine as a street with designer shops, a very good English pub, wine bar, champagne bar, cafes’, ice cream shop and a cupcake shop, a pizza place called Sorrento serving one of the best pizzas I have ever had, and this comes from a girl made in Italy.

The theatre seating approximately 1500 people was great and the seats where comfortable. The shows, West end style were great to watch. I was lucky to watch Grease which was a great theatrical performance with very good voices. This show had to be pre-booked for tickets. I recommend to book the shows as early as you can to guarantee yourself a place. To get the best seats you need to turn up early which meant I was there 45 minutes before the show started, but as soon as I was seated the waiter came to take drinks orders and kept coming back which made the wait more enjoyable.

At night time whether you have children or not everything comes to life. All different areas and bars have a different atmosphere so it can suit your mood. At meal time families can opt for the family time dining where parents can dine at the restaurant and the children go to the kids club where they have dinner together and evening playing together until late if required. If preferred baby sitting service is also available for the cabin.

The Labyrinth is a great night club on board, recommended for after dinner and drinks, a place to let you hair down where music and atmosphere are both great! It looks modern and it’s very clean. She ship is so very well sound proofed you can’t hear the music from nearby places.

The ship was sailing at full capacity which meant there was 4 Thousand guests on board but it never felt crowded.  Because of the variety of the entertainment at different venues, people tend to spread in different areas of the ship

There is lots more I could talk about and i can go on and on but I have to stop here…
