Ho Ho Ho – Food Heroes Guide to Christmas
I have written before about P&O’s dedication to food on board their vessels and the introduction of their food heroes programme. Food is without a doubt one of the areas a cruise liner has to shine if they are to compete with their rivals. When cruising we don’t need to worry about the cooking or cleaning up, all we need to be concerned with is enjoying the marvellous food in front of us.
We are however fast approaching, for a lot of us, the time of year when we cook the most important meal. I am of course talking about Christmas! A time when the meal is the centre point of the day, a time when you may be cooking for more people than usual, and a time where you may be cooking food you don’t otherwise. There is a lot of pressure to get it right. A member of my extended family who shall remain nameless got into a bit of a pickle one year. Unfortunately too much mulled wine was consumed pre lunch, and it wasn’t until the next day that she realised the roast potatoes and stuffing were still in the oven!! To avoid such disasters (avoid mulled wine pre cooking!), here are some tips from a couple of P&O’s food heroes to make your day go a little smoother!
Well that’s good to know! Rioja is my favourite red wine so that will certainly be appearing on my Christmas table. I’m fortunate to be having a practice run with my house mates so by the time Christmas day comes I hope to have made all my mistakes!
