Themed cruises all the way……….

I had to smile this week when I read about Bonnie Tyler making a guest appearance on board ‘Oasis of the seas’ to help get passengers in the spirit to experience the Solar eclipse. Very clever Royal Caribbean, it’s almost as good as an episode of ‘Homes under the hammer’.

Bonnie will be belting out her 80’s hit ‘Total eclipse of the heart’ alongside American rock dance band DNCE in the Aqua Theater about an hour before the eclipse next week. You can always rely on Royal Caribbean to come up with a quirky way to celebrate the moment.

I do think it’s great though that ships are having more guest appearances on board from bands of old and well known celebs, I can remember all the hype happening last year when Ant & Dec took over the Britannia on ‘Saturday night takeaway’. It was great to see everybody getting in the swing of cruising, although I do also remember it not being everybody’s cup of tea as some people did take up the opportunity to cancel free of charge once they knew they were on board!!!!!!

P&O used to do a lot of themes on their mini cruises with guest appearances from Opera singers ‘Russell Watson’ and ‘Jonathan & Charlotte’ although they do not seem to have done this for quite a while now. I remember a few of my guests being disappointed as they did not get to see Russell Watson as there were not enough spaces for the amount of passengers eagerly waiting, maybe that’s the reason, however their ‘Strictly come dancing’ cruises are always a great hit.

Exclusively here at Cruise.co.uk we run our very own ‘Garden cruises’ which always go down well with our past passenger combining guest speakers with exclusive Garden tours and like minded passengers to mull over their garden trials and tribulations.

I think combining a cruise with a theme is a great way to get like minded people together to enjoy a shared interest and make new acquaintances. Wouldn’t it be great to sit down with a table of 8 strangers and have more in common than how many cruises you’ve been on………….
