Brilliant Butlin’s………..

IMG_1204
With the school holiday week looming we decided to head down to Butlin’s Minehead last weekend to wear the kids out for the week ahead. Having never been to Butlin’s before as a family we did not know quite what to expect. A few of our friends have been for the party weekends and I hosted the Naughty Reunion for the Thomson Twenty’s programme a few years back so we had a good idea what to expect from the adult only weekends, but as a family with little people it was great fun to see exactly what Butlin’s had to offer.

As we were a party of seven with Mark’s 3 grandchildren 6 years and under, and Marks Son and his partner we decided to book a lake view lodge to accommodate all seven of us. We were all really impressed with our floating home comprising of a double bedroom with en-suite, twin bedroom and bunk bedroom, large family bathroom and a huge living area space including the kitchen, dining area, and lounge leading out onto a big balcony where we were able to feed the ducks and geese.

We loved all the old time memorabilia around the apartment giving you a glimpse of the old time Billy Butlin’s camps.

The accommodation was spotless and just a five minute walk away to all the entertainment venues. The pool area was fantastic with the biggest lazy river to float round and the best slides if you’re feeling brave. There were plenty of activities to do in the daytime from the fairground rides, bowling, cinema, play areas, puppet shows, arcades, live character shows, craft activities, bike rides, donkey rides, the list is endless….We got to see Diversity, comedian Jon Clegg, Brainiac, along with the Red coat shows too. The live wrestling on Saturday afternoon was great, took me and Mark right back to being a kid watching big Daddy on the TV years ago.

Safe to say we all had a ball, definitely worth upgrading to a lakeside lodge so we could all chill out together on the night time once the kids heads had hit their pillows.
