My Trip on the Independence of the seas Part 1

The time had finally arrived when I was going on the independence of the seas, we got to the port around 12 pm the queuing to board the ship and get our key cards were around 20 mins so not too bad, we couldn’t get into our cabin’s till 1 pm so not long really to wait. We went up to Deck 11 to where the pools were and some of the Bars to meet the rest of our group. The atmosphere was really good the sun was shining the music was on it was really nice and of course, I had a drink in my hand (it had been a long day) as we were up at 3 am to get to Southampton from Sheffield.

My first impression of the ship was wow I thought she was stunning, its a long time since I done a Royal Caribbean ship so it was really nice to get the chance to experience the Independence of the seas. 1 pm arrived and we started to make our way to the cabin so we could get rid of our bags we were in cabin number 9562 Deck nine Mid-Ship balcony cabin, once we stepped in it was a lovely and  very spacious cabin it had a  dressing table, sofa and a double bed that would convert to a twin bed if you wanted this, the bathroom was a good size but the shower was a bit on the small size and I don’t know how I would feel if I was doing two weeks on her with the size of the Shower but I’m not complaining. I then stepped out onto the balcony and that was a really good size probably one of the biggest balconies I’ve ever had, it had a table and two chairs on the balcony just want you needed.

Once we’d unpacked we then went for something to eat, the restaurants that you could go to was either the Windjammer or their where many more on the promenade deck, we choose to eat on the Promenade deck their are a few eating places on this deck which is Deck 5 we choose Sorrentos and had Pizza this was really nice  and would certainly  recommend, once we had an eaten we then we back up to deck 11 as it wasn’t going to be long until the ship started to sail, on Deck 11 you have the bigger kids Splash pool area, you have the big TV’s, the main pool loads of sunbed areas with many sun loungers and  3 bar’s one of the Bars on this Deck is where the new Fish and Ships is and these looked amazing i did have this on my second day and it was diffidently worth the $9 extra charge for.

when the ship started to sail the staff on board make a bit of a party about it which was really good. it was now time to go back to our cabins and get ready as we were on the first meal sitting which is 6 pm, the main restaurant was lovely and our waiters were really helpful and friendly and really couldn’t do enough for us, our menus came and and everything sounded really nice, I didn’t have a starter but everyone else did on our table and they all looked really nice, the main meal I had New York Strip Steak which was lovely but when some other people had the Beef Wellington I wished I’d had that  all the food on board I really couldn’t fault anything about it, everything was really spot on.

It was now time to go and see the shows we saw the Ice Show first which was really good and then at 10:45 pm we then went to see take that both were amazing and I really enjoyed both of them.

The only thing so far that I didn’t like about the ship was the clientele see my next blog to hear about this………
