Head to the Caribbean for some winter sun

Are you heading to the Caribbean for some winter sun?

At this time of year when its cold and wet we start to think about sunnier climates!

The Caribbean is a great place to travel to during the winter months. In fact, the sun shines for most of the year and the temperatures stay consistent.

Last year the Caribbean was hit by 2 massive hurricanes, Irma and Maria. Some islands were very badly damaged. Most have managed to re build the resorts and are back to normal. The cruise ports are very much open again however some of the resorts outside of the main port are still showing signs of damage.

I have been to the Caribbean several times but never on a cruise.

Caribbean islands I would visit include.

Jamaica – located in the western part of the Caribbean, I travelled in November 2008 for a wedding, so it is very special to me. The resorts are beautiful. Lovely sandy beaches and bustling towns. Montego bay and Ochos Rios are the main cruise ports. I travelled to Ochos Rios and visited the famous Dunns River falls. You can walk the waterfall, but it is not for the faint hearted! It is spectacular and well worth a trip! The shops in the town tend to put the prices up when a cruise ship arrives, so you can barter!

Barbados – located in the south of the Caribbean this is an island I would love to visit. Famous for beautiful sandy beaches, botanical gardens and bustling towns.

St Maaten – a very small island located in the South East of the Caribbean. I would love to visit the famous beach next to the airport

St Lucia – located in the South of the Caribbean is famous for the 2 mountains called the Pitons. Also popular is to snorkel in the reefs, relax on the glorious beaches and explore the beautiful fishing villages.
