New ports of call for an all new ship!

I’m sure there are many of you out there that have covered most of the Mediterranean on your past cruises and are struggling to find anywhere new. Well you may be pleased to hear that Celebrity have added 2 new ports of call to their Mediterranean itineraries for 2019. And even better news these ports will appear the itineraries set for the all new Celebrity Edge.

Ok so what are these new ports for Celebrity Cruises?

Nauplion, Greece – This port will feature on the 11 nights Amalfi Coast and Greek Isles. Nauplion is located on the Nafplion Peninsular and has a medieval vibe to it. There are many shops, bars and tavernas at this ports. The Nauplion promenade runs 1.1 km along the along the water from the harbour to Arvanitia Square, directly above the beach. At one point the promenade seems to lead straight into the water. Several spots along the promenade offer steps down to the sea. Or walk along it until it ends, and take a dip at Arvanitia Beach. A popular tourist attraction here is the very well preserved amphitheatre, Epidaurus. The top attraction here is the Palamidi Fortress, this can be spotted at every point in the city due to its hillside location. Another interesting sight is the Bourtzi Fortress, which is accessible by boat from the port. These are just a few top things to do in Nauplion but all in all this sounds like a really pretty and interesting place to visit.

Santa Margherita, Italy – This port will feature on the 10 nights Treasures of the Western Mediterranean. Located about 35 kilometres from Genoa in the Italian region of Liguria. Much quieter than it’s neighbour Portofino, which is walkable or you can catch a bus. There are a few good shopping options, lovely cafes and interesting sights. Many of these are around the harbour where most tourists tend to stay. Apparently this is also a great place to get some gelato. Castello Brown is a 16th Century Castle with stunning views of the town. The Villa Durazzo is situated in a stunning park up in the mountain and is another top place to visit.
