A New River Cruise Boat.

With so many new Ocean Ships being launched on a yearly basis it makes a nice change to tell you about my second passion. River Cruising. This is a different ball game all together with most boats only holding a couple of hundred people at the most the availability certainly leaves us searching for an operator with a cabin for me to book.

River cruising also starts from 3 stars to 5 star standard and the price reflects that. Although it does look more expensive, you have to look at what is also included. Some have drinks, tips and excursions so price for price they are all good value.

We all know and love Fred Olsen Cruise line for its traditional British standard of service. They also have their smaller ship on some of the larger European rivers. However it is still an ocean cruise ship. So today with the announcement that they have a new River Boat joining the fleet we are all excited to have another option to offer you.

The boat is called Brabant, and was built in 2008. She is a stylish, bright and spacious addition. With 4 decks, 80 rooms and suites all with an intimate feel she is smaller than most river boats but does not lack in spacious public areas and ample deck space. You can sit back and watch the romantic towns, fortresses, vineyards, churches and forests pass you by. Being slightly smaller you will be docked closer to the city, town or village saving time on transfers.

The schedule will run from April 18 to October 18 with 5 to 23 night itineraries starting from 999 to include flight and transfers. Switzerland, Holland, Rhine, Main, Danube and the Moselle will feature giving you the chance to visit it’s fairy tale towns en route.
You can then chose to add a city break stay at the end to put the icing on the cake.

This new venture will also carry the Fred Olsen Enjoyment promise which means if you do not like your trip within the first 24 hours they will fly you home and refund your money. Terms and conditions however will apply.

I have my eye on the 5 night Dutch one in the spring just to give it a try.
