Nautical Neil's Life on the Ocean Wave

What a week

Barcelona, Spain - August 22, 2016: Monarch Airlines Airbus A321 landing at El Prat Airport in Barcelona, Spain.

Well it has been a topsy turvy week or so in the travel Industry and not really for the good.

Morarch group has ceased trading leaving over 100, 000 passengers abroad with the uncertainty of getting a flight home and over 800,000 future bookings being cancelled.  This has left over 1,800 employees for Monarch being told they do not have a job any more. My parents had flown to Spain two days ago with Monarch.  As they booked through a travel agent they are guaranteed a flight home, but on what carrier is anyone’s guess.

Ryanair are still cancelling flights into 2018 because of the debacle of their pilots ‘staff rotas’

P&O announced that they have sold their ship the Adonia to Azamara cruises and have cancelled all sailings from the end of March 2018 leaving clients who were looking forward to the more unusual ports of call cruises’ losing their holiday for next year. All I can say is that I have some very dissatisfied clients.

With the ongoing tensions around the world with America and North Korea and rumbling volcano in the Bali area where are people cruising to now.  All I can say is that Mediterranean and Canary Islands sailings are selling fast!!!
