Nautical Neil's Life on the Ocean Wave

Small ships are wanted!!

P&O have announced that their small ship Adonia is to return to their 2017/2018 season.  The ship was much loved by the P&O faithful and when she left the fleet to help with humanitarian work overseas there was a big hole to fill as many of the P&O fleet are larger ships and P&O were losing some of their passengers to cruise & Maritime and Fred Olsen.

From June 2017 she will start Mediterranean, round Britain and even an Iceland sailing. The smaller more interesting ports will have their girl back as many of the larger ships cant get to places like Scrabster in Scotland and Heimaey which is an island off Iceland.

Adonia will return to P&O service with a few little upgrades and touches. One new touch is  a new restaurant Olly Smith’s “The Glass House, and an outdoor cinema on the Lido deck.

In our Winter Adonia will return back to the Caribbean to smaller ports such as Guadeloupe and Bequia and also sail up the Amazon where larger ships cant go. Adonia had been in the Caribbean previously helping with Fathom Cruises, she was being used to take guests to islands such as Domincan Republic and Cuba to enable guests to help with volunteering on the islands.  Now when this was announced there were a few raised eyebrows, not sure what those people now think as she returns to cruising, what she was built to do.

I for one think P&O have done a  great thing to bring her back.  She will be a welcome break to the small ship community. What do you think?
