Nautical Neil's Life on the Ocean Wave

Remember remember the fifth time you tender

Tender boats (life craft) the bain of all cruisers. Whether they are blocking the perfect view outside your stateroom or you are waiting on one to get ashore to one of your ports of call. You have to remember that these craft are on the ship to save your life if the unthinkable happens.

Tenders are equipped with flares, sea sickness tablets, fresh drinking water, salt tablets, all matter of ropes and hooks…even a fishing line just to mention a few.

Yes I know that they ruin the look of the ship and they take up valuable deck space but they are essential isaws. Cruisers out there are fully aware that at the start of every cruise we have to go through the monotonous task of listening to the ships whistle and then ambling to your stateroom to collect your life vest. Once you have located it then looking on the back of your stateroom door to find where the hell on this floating village your allotted muster station is!

After finding your muster station you have to listen to the safety advice given to you by ‘trained’ crew who tell you how to put on your new attire. Once this is over then you follow these people to the deck where most probably sea water is dripping off the tenders and running down your back!

Okay maybe I have done one too many of these to remember as crew and as a guest, but here’s food for thought…the sea can be pretty cold in Alaska, rough in South America and shark infested in the Caribbean!!!

I know where i’d like to end up!!
