Nautical Neil's Life on the Ocean Wave

Queen Mary 2 did not disappoint

I have just returned from a four night mini cruise on Cunard’s Queen Mary 2.  The ship has just been remastered, which is a posh word for a refit. However Cunard have spent £90 million on the re fit.  We were able to see some of the changes however as the ship was full with guests so we could not look in the new single cabins of which 15 are brand new on the ship.  There are also 30 new Britannia club cabins and the Grills staterooms have had a complete change with new interiors, carpets and decoration.

The old ‘Winter Garden’ has been replaced with a brand new Carinthia Lounge which is light airy and a lovely place to quaff a pre or post dinner drink. There is a vast array of port on show here too for the connoisseurs.

There are kennels on QM2.  Dogs and cats can travel in comfort on the Trans Atlantic sailing.  Cunard have increased the kennel capacity and even added a lampost and a fire hydrant to make the dogs ‘feel at home’.  If you wanted to you can ask the chef to cook a special cookie for your pooch, it will be like us humans getting a chocolate on our pillow before bed.

The Kings Court has had a makeover too making the venue a lot brighter and the buffet stations more manageable to get your food from. The food in the Britannia restaurant was as excellent as I remember with the choice of six starters, six mains and six desserts every night, you can even have a salad in between if you are feeling healthy.

Look out for more pictures and information on Queen Mary 2 in the coming weeks.
