The Pleasure Of Sailing From The Uk!

More and more of us are fed up of flying to our cruising destination. Facing airport queues, delays and all that jazz. Because of this, the increase in people wanting to sail from the UK has risen. Very much a stress free start to your holiday, no worries over how much luggage you can take, all you need to do is get to the port.

Many of us “northerners” do get a bit cheesed off that the main port is in the South, but there are alternatives for us, although not on every departure date or destination.  So, I thought I would compile a list of who sails from where!

And I start with Aberdeen (yes Aberdeen). Noble Caledonia have a couple of cruises from there. Cruise and Maritime sail from Bristol and Cardiff.  From Dover you have a choice of Fred Olsen, Saga, Seabourn, Holland America, Crystal and Princess and not forgetting Disney!

Dundee you have Cruise and Maritime again. Edinburgh you have Silversea, Windstar and Azamara. Greenock you have the lovely Hebridean Island cruises. Harwich is Cruise and Maritime again. Liverpool is Fred Olsen and Cruise and Maritime. Greenwich in London is Viking, Ponant, and Silversea.

London Tilbury is served by Cruise and Maritime as well as Voyages of Antiquity. London Tower bridge is Azamara, Silversea and Hebridean.  MY home town is served by Thomson (Marella), Cruise and Maritime and Fred Olsen.  Oban is well served by Hebridean.  Poole (yes even Poole) has Cruise and Maritime.

Portland has Hebridean and Portsmouth has Saga, Ponant, and Cruise and Maritime.  Rosyth has Fred Olsen.

Then we have the BIG boy Southampton (deep breath!) – Cunard, P&O, Princess, Fred Olsen, Saga, MSC, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Oceania Cruises, Regent, Azamara, and Thomson (Marella)!

Of course, not all of these ports are going to offer you everything you want – with the exception of Southampton I think! But the purpose of my blog this week is to show you that yes there are cruises from all around the UK and hopefully a port close to you.  22 ports to be precise!

The Mediterranean is as always very popular from the UK but I do see a increase/interest in Iceland, and round the UK cruises. You  would be surprised at how many of you have never been to some of the destinations in your own country. You can pick huge family friendly ships or go for the smaller more niche ones,  don’t forget you can also look at the more luxury side of the market with the likes of Silversea, Seabourn, Crystal, Regent, Oceania and Azamara.

What are you waiting for, where do you want to go, what date and call me!

Till next time x
