A Quick Tipple Before Your Flight ?

I am sure you would agree with me when I say most of us do like to indulge in a few drinks when we are waiting for our flight to go on holiday. It is time to relax, sit back and enjoy your hard break away.

But are you one of those that like to indulge and have one too many ?   Well maybe not anymore !

New studies have shown that as many as 62% of holiday makers admit to congregate at the airport bar and maybe enjoy a few too many. Over the last few years this has caused a sharp rise in the numbers of unruly, aggressive or troublesome passengers on flights, with some guests having alcoholic drinks before their flight as early as 8am.

Would you believe over the last 2 years reports have shown that there has been as many as 442 arrests of passengers suspected of being intoxicated on a plane or in the airport.

However, this could become a thing of the past as these concerns have now led the government to announce it will be looking into airport drinking.

One airline has already put a ban on drinking on any flights which depart before 8am. Jet2.com will refuse to sell any passengers early-morning alcohol on all of its flights which depart before 8am, in a bid to “crackdown on disruptive behaviour”.

This is the first European carrier to introduce such sanctions – and is now calling on other airlines and airports to follow suit.

Last week, airlines, retailers, police and airports announced a new crackdown on “disruptive” passengers which will see them forced to pay for any damage they cause as well the cost of as delays and diversions.

I’m sure this is just the start of things to come, it wouldn’t surprise me if other airlines follow suite. I know this might sound unfair on passengers that only enjoy a couple of drinks before getting on our flight but I have also experienced unruly passengers that have been intoxicated on my flight and it hasn’t been a very nice experience.

I used to work for an airline for 2 years and have seen the repercussions of unruly passengers on board. This is not fair to the crew members on board nor other passengers on flights that are travelling.

Have your experienced unruly behaviour on board your flight ?

If so please let me know !
