For this week’s shore excursion guide I’ve decided to talk about the sensational Singapore. With So many cruise lines starting from or having an overnight in port, it’s a place you’ll definitely want to explore. Whether it’s high end shopping malls and fine dining or visiting museums and temples learning about the history and traditions dating back 1000’s of years, this port really does have something to offer everyone.
One of the best ways to get up close to some of the cities famous sights is by taking the original Ducktour. This land and sea based experience will ensure you’ll have some of the best view of the famous land marks Singapore has to offer. Highlights will include : Fountain of Wealth – the world’s largest fountain, Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay – a performing arts centre which has hosted many big names and acts including the musical We Will Rock You. Civic District – here you can see the Cenotaph, Singapore Cricket Club and lots more.
Fancy sharing a breakfast with the Orangutans?? Then head to Mandai Zoological Gardens. Home to over 3,600 mammals, reptiles and birds, this zoo spreads over 28 hectares of secondary jungle. The aim is to teach visitors about the the unique habitat of the animals. The enclosures are made in such a way that it replicates the natural habitat of the animals it homes. As an option you can also choose to have a jungle breakfast with the Orangutans, the Cotton-Top Tamarins and a Python – I’m not sure on the Python bit!!
Now for me, a trip to Singapore would certainly have to include a visit to the famous Raffle’s Hotel. Learn all about the history of Sir Stamford Raffles and where it all began. Visit the hotel where it hosted many events for the high society back in 1800’s and stop for a spot of afternoon tea and cake whilst soaking up the atmosphere before taking a bumboat cruise along the Singapore River. Sounds perfect!
