Déjà vu – memories of my surprise 40th Birthday came flooding back!

Being my first Christmas with cruise.co.uk I didn’t know what to expect from our Annual Conference.  There was me thinking of all the wonderful places we could go, waited with anticipation and then the announcement came – Butlins at Skegness two weeks before Christmas and it was a Sixties Weekend!

Flashbacks of my surprise 40th birthday my friends arranged for me came flooding back.  I didn’t know where I was going until we were on the way on a cold, wet and windy December Friday night (several years ago – saying no more than that), until we stopped at a pub for something to eat.

My friend who hadn’t arranged the outing gave me a large glass of wine and said ‘brace yourself’.  She then proceeded to tell me that we were going to Butlins at Skegness for a Sixties Weekend.  I think my face expressed all that needed to be said.  I don’t mind telling you that Sixties music is not my favourite but put a smile on my face, had a few more drinks and we headed off.

We checked in and the accommodation was – no other word for it – Awful!!!  I won’t go into any more details but we made the best of it and were upgraded the next morning.  After a few more drinks, dancing and lots of laughter we ended up having a good weekend.

Getting back to the Conference, you can imagine how I was feeling.  I needn’t have worried as I must say how impressed I was with the accommodation this time, lovely modern Seaview Cottages with all the amenities, beds very comfortable, lots of space, and the food was good too.

One of our suppliers dressed as Bill & Ben!

The Conference facilities were excellent and we could not have asked for anything more from the Staff and Management – all our needs were catered for.

You can imagine trying to organise this event with most of the Sales team being Homeworkers coming from all parts of the UK and some from Europe too but Vicki just took it her stride and everything was in place and ran perfectly so a big thank you to her.

Thuderbirds are Go! – our very own management team!

Overall we had a fantastic weekend, a lot of fun was had by all and it was really good to meet my fellow colleagues.  The weekend certainly put me in the Christmas spirit and I’m looking forward to spending my first Christmas on land in four years with my family and friends.

Everyone at cruise.co.uk would like to thank you for your support in 2017 and we would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year – and remember – Keep Cruising’.

Please fee free to share my details with family and friends if the subject of cruising holidays arise as personal recommendations are a great way to let your loved ones know they can trust me to look after their cruising needs.
