Not for the faint hearted.

I have worked on the cruise industry for around 20 years now and can’t believe how much the industry has grown and has changed. I love the way it is developing to attract new customers and people of all tastes. When I started selling cruise it was very traditional and had an image of being calm and sophisticated. Then Ocean Village launched ‘ the cruise for people who don’t do cruises’ and now Carnival Corporation have just linked with Rainforest Adventure to celebrate the  launch the worlds steepest zip line on the island of St Maarten.

The zip line is part of the Rockland Estate eco-park attraction which opened this week and is set to be one of the most popular attractions in the Caribbean. As well as the zip line there is an adrenaline-filled tube ride and for the less adventurous a mountain chair lift with views across the island and a museum that showcases St Maarten’s history and culture.

Along with government officials the opening ceremony was attended by representatives from 8 Carnival Corporation brands which shows the importance of the cruise industry to tourism on the island. The island features heavily in P&O’s Caribbean programme and so I imagine if you are sailing to the Caribbean next year, the Rockland Estate will be offered as an excursion.

Send me a photo of yourself on the zip line.
