Exciting News for Fred Olsen Fans

Fred Olsen have just announced their first full river cruise programme, which is fantastic news for fans of the cruise line.

Building upon the success of the Braemar which has been sailing from across the channel and down the River Seine for the last couple of years, the cruise line has taken the step to charter the Amadeus Princess for 2018 and 2019 and will offer sailings along the Rhine, Moselle and Danube.

The 156 passenger ship will sail under the name Brabant, which was a 1920’s Fred Ocean vessel and is offering a choice of itineraries from 5 to 25 nights. She features  four cabin types including window cabins, cabins with Juliette balconies and suites. There is also a restaurant, bar, fitness and salon area along with a small shop, bicycle rack and a pool onboard.

Sales & marketing director, Justin Stanton, stated: ‘At Fred Olsen we specialise in creating a home-from-home atmosphere on our ocean cruises, and we are proud to be bringing our many decades of expertise and rich sailing heritage to the river cruise market for the very first time.

“Guests can rest assured that the new Fred Olsen river cruises will be underpinned by the usual high standards, award-winning customer service and understated elegance that they have come to expect of our ocean-going offer.”

The ship is just 110 metres long and is smaller then many river cruises allowing it to get in the heart of the cities that it will visit. It will also be sterling on board which will be beneficial for UK guests.

Fred Olsen will be selling the cruises as a full package with flights, transfers, meals and wi-fi included but interestingly they will not be including drinks or excursions which the higher end of the cruise market does. They have announced that they are looking to include a drinks package that customers can pre-purchase along the lines of that offered to their ocean cruise guests.

The itineraries will be announced and open for bookings to Diamond, Platinum and Gold Oceans member on the 24th May 2017, with Silver members and new to Fred Olsen guests on the 25th and 26th respectively. Fred Olsen are expecting these cruises to sell well and are already talking of taking a second ship and I think they are right. The cruise line has a huge loyal client base and customers are looking for somewhere new and different to visit and with just 156 passengers per sailing the ship will fill up fast.
