Celebrity Homeport for Dublin

What a fabulous piece of news  5* Celebrity Cruise will have a Solstice Ship based in the port of Dublin from 2018- They will be the first cruise line to have a ship based in Dublin, and to be honest you cant get much better than Celebrity Cruise.

Celebrity Solstice class of ship hold 2,800 passengers and they will be doing Northern Europe sailings from April to June from 2018. It is anticipated that around 14,000 passengers will now start to enjoy this much needed port.

I have lost count of the number of people I have spoken to over the years,who have had to make the pilgrimage over to the Southampton port to get P&O or Cunard ships etc who enjoy sailing out of the port rather than having to take flights, so this will i’m sure come as a huge relief to them.

Also a boost to the economy will  be very welcome and expected to be in the region of  5 million pounds, this will also be helpful to the rest of the surrounding area and will see a domino effect..

Dublin and Cork are visited by P&O & Fred Olsen on a regular basis, along with Princess Cruise & MSC,  Around  180,000 people visiting for the day or some of the sailings are overnight with people taking advantage of Hen or Stag parties etc.

When in port you will find dozens of coaches waiting to take passengers to the city or other guided tours, you may be met at the port by a Leprechaun or someone dressed as a pint of Guinness (fancy dress obviously) – either way a fab start to any holiday I think.

Dublin port has had a record year already with its tourism so this will be the icing on the cake for the whole area, this further business redevelopment plan will cost in the region of 200 million Euro’s.
