I’m back from Jewel of the Seas

I’ve just returned from my own holiday sailing around the Eastern Med with Royal Caribbean on board Jewel of the Seas from Rome.

Everything went extremely well and I would definitely sail on board her again .

From check in at Manchester Airport to getting on board was  stress free.

On arrival in Rome we collected our luggage and Royal Caribbean reps were there at every point to guide you where to go. Cases were dropped off at  the airport door for RCI to take to the port for us whilst we made our way to the transfer coach.

The only problem we had was that when our cases arrived outside our cabin one of our cases was damaged with a wheel missing and large hole, we went to customer relations and were told straight away not to worry that a new case would be purchased for us and delivered to our stateroom so problem sorted and we could go back to enjoying our cruise.

The transfer to the port took less than an hour and on arrival we went through security within 20 minutes and were sat on board  with our first drink.

We had an inside cabin on Deck 9 , stateroom number 9561 which was well situated to get to the lifts and to the pool area and of course all the bars and restaurants on board . Our stateroom attendant looked after us and left us little towel animals every night , my favourite was an elephant with Stu’s sunglasses on holding the TV remote control.

We were on Anytime dining and I had pre booked our dining times for 8.15pm each evening, after the first night we requested that we could dine in the same area with  Samir and Rohit on table 507 as they gave exceptional service and looked after us well, even bringing a different curry each evening to taste after our main courses.

The food was lovely and we didn’t have a bad meal whilst on board, there was always something to choose from and on one occasion our friends ordered a meal that she didn’t like when it arrived and without any fuss another meal was brought to her straight away , nothing was too much trouble for them .

There was always something to suit all our tastes, we ate steak , rack of lamb , lots of fish, ravioli, chicken and everything was of a high standard and all tasted delicious.

After the first night they remembered that Stu was allergic to blue cheese so whenever he had a cheese board they left this off and also remembered the four different drinks we liked and kept these topped up.

My next blog will show you what we did on board and in the ports.
