Time to Explore our first family cruise!

I love working in the travel industry and selling to me what is the best form of holidays Cruises. As part of my job I have been lucky enough to see some amazing ships and do several short cruises and really get a feel for what cruising is all about but always as part of work.

I have looked several times at doing a cruise for my own holiday but as we are a family of 5 it has generally been a bit out of reach for us financially. Well It has been a very long time coming but at last I am really excited to say say I have booked my very first cruise to take the family away. We don’t travel until 25th October 2019 but I have booked to go on the fantastic Explorer of the Seas for a 11 Night cruise to the Canaries from Southampton and the Best bit is it will be my daughters 18th birthday whilst we are on the cruise so something she will remember for ever.

I cant wait to see how these 3 will love there first time cruise

The reason we have booked this cruise is because it should cover the school holidays for my twin boys who will be 8 at the time and it was a great deal for booking so early. It is Royal Caribbean who in my opinion offer the best facilities for families. On the Explorer we have A water play area with slides, Rock Climbing Walls, Ice Skating Rinks, Movies outside, Kids clubs, Arcades and so much more so it should be perfect and offer everything that we need to cater for all the family.

My Kids will love the Rock Climbing Wall which I have tried

To help with my cost we have press ganged my Mother in Law into coming with us so we can have 2 Inside cabins as it was so much cheaper than one of the much larger cabins for 5. As soon as we booked my parents who have also never cruise before have booked to come with us and just about everyone else in the family has asked about prices so it could be a real family affair in the end.

Even booking 588 days in advance I am still kicking myself as had I booked it the first couple of days it went on sale I could of got it around £500 cheaper overall. but am glad I did as I can see that it has been a very popular cruise and has gone up twice after I booked and some cabins types are full already which is just scary at this stage.

The whole family is so excited and my boys keep asking how many sleeps until we go……………..It could be a long time if they keep asking every day!
