Putting the ‘Tea’ in Celebrity

What’s the first thing you do when you are fully awake in the morning? Well for me and a large proportion of you out there I would imagine it is put the kettle on for that morning cup of tea that we all need to help kick start the day as I know I cant function properly without my morning cuppa.

The only way I can start the day!

For some it has always been a bone of contention when sailing from the UK that Most of the international cruiselines don’t have a kettle in the cabin. Well I’m delighted to announce that one of my favourite cruise lines has decided to do something about for the upcoming season. On Sailing’s out of Southampton on the Celebrity Silhouette the Cruise Director has advised that plans are in place to have Kettles in the cabins and also lot’s of other British Treats that we may not of been able to enjoy apart from on the likes of P&O.

Here are a few of the other tweaks that have been mooted – a decent selection of English teas; a wider selection of beers, gins and mixers; English Bacon, English condiments, such as Marmite, Colmans Mustard and HP sauce; and a curry night ( Yes you read that correct a curry night ).

Although not British Some other changes that will be brought in will be a wider selection of mixers for gins, and more old-world wines — i.e. French, Spanish and Italian — versus the large selection of Californian wines onboard.

Staff are also to be trained on the differences between the service expected by Brits versus Americans. (The latter settle down and expect to be served, while the Brits go to the bar to buy a round.)

Silhouette already has an English Cruise Director who will ensure the entertainment onboard, from quizzes to live performances, will also be suited to the British market.

It is really nice to see that Celebrity has taken on feedback and is making the effort to please everybody as they do offer a very different feel and experience and standard to a lot of the other lines sailing out of the UK this summer.

So if the one reason you had not booked Celebrity before was your morning Cuppa then hopefully this will stir you into ‘Tea’ bagging  a great cruise on a great ship.
