Gina's Cruise Guide

Race Car Tracks!, Space Ship Laser Course! Welcome to NCL Bliss!

With NCL’s announcement that their latest ship the NCL Bliss will have the first ever 2 car race track at sea, I must admit I was impressed!  And what a treat for all the  Adrenalin Junkies! Looking for their latest fix!

The competitive track, the longest at sea at nearly 1,000 feet, will have passengers competitively racing against each other, with four speed settings for  novice, intermediate, and advanced drivers, reaching up to 30 miles per hour—with a special ‘turbo boost’ available on each lap. The cars run silently,  but with race car engine sounds “piped in through speakers located in the car’s headrest” to enhance the experience without disturbing non-racing passengers.  The track is the second on-board racing course by Norwegian Cruises. The NCL Joy  which serves the China Market  was the first to introduce this new concept.  The track on Bliss will be 40 per cent longer than the one on Joy.

I bet you will still get people complaining about the noise the ‘drivers’ make as they race around the track!

Another new ‘First at sea’  will be  an open-air laser tag course with an abandoned space station theme, and a water park with two multi story slides. One slide  OCEAN LOOPS includes two loops, one that extends out over the side of the ship and a second see-through loop that stretches down to the deck below. A tandem slide allows passengers to race side-by-side on inner tubes for more than 360ft, with a see through clear section that provides ocean views.

I cant imagine having time to take in the sea views whizzing down  360ft water slide, I’d be too busy screaming and hanging on to my cozzie!

The  167,800 tonne, 4000 passenger ship will sail to Alaska, the Caribbean and the Mexican Riviera from June 2018. The ship’s Ports of call include Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and Victoria, British Columbia, along with scenic glacier cruising.

Norwegian Bliss will sail her inaugural Winter season beginning in November 2018, sailing seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruises each Saturday from Port of Miami, featuring calls in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands; Tortola, British Virgin Islands and Nassau, Bahamas

Too good for the kiddies – It should be an Adult Only ship!

I for one cant wait!  Bring it on!
