Refit for a Queen

A 2669

Cunard’s Queen Victoria will shortly be taking some time out in dry dock to undergo a partial refit.  The Queen Victoria will go into dry dock from 5 May to 4 June at the Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo Sicily.   The upgrade will include upgraded and increased choice of staterooms, new Britannia Club dining, a more distinct bar and a new sun deck among other extras.  So what exactly will happen at the refit.

Aft Lido Sun Deck – Extended Shaded Area, more outdoor seating and loungers, Al Fresco dining options and a full beverage service throughout the day into the evening with live entertainment.

Yacht Club – A bigger range of social activities, pre and post dinner entertainment with a dedicated jazz trio followed by a DJ, extended serving hours and new furniture and carpet.

The Winter Garden – Enhancements to the glass canopy, refreshed decor and new statement floor.

Britannia Club Balconies and Dining – Britannia Club accommodation and dining comes to Cunard’s Queen Victoria. There will be 43 spacious Britannia Club balcony staterooms in a prime midship location on decks 7 and 8 and each Britannia Club stateroom will have enhanced premium balconies, a nine-pillow concierge menu and the freedom to dine whenever you choose in a new Britannia Club restaurant.

Cunard grand Suite –  Guests wishing to escape or entertain within their Cunard Grand Suite will discover a host of enhancements. The other perks of the Cunard Grand Suite include: floor to ceiling windows and doors, a separate snug room with TV, a beautifully-appointed lounge, a master bathroom with sea view, a second bathroom with guest access, a bedroom TV that folds down from the ceiling, a walk-in wardrobe with additional storage units, and a generous dual aspect balcony.

Cunard are one of my favourite cruise lines and after seeing the QM2 be remastered I am glad to hear that Queen Victoria is also having a face lift.  Cunard always try to keep up to date with upgrades etc on their ships as they have very high standards to keep.  It will be interesting to see the Queen Victoria after her refit and passengers travelling on her later this year will be sure to enjoy the enhancements.
