I Am Back!

I am back.

What is it about taking time off for a holiday?

From the day you book your holiday  to the day you leave seems to take an age to come around,  but once you are there the days fly by and you are soon sat back at your desk and the sun and sea seem like a distant dream! It’s just not fair.

I have once again been to Cyprus for my annual family holiday. The weather seems to get better every year – it must be this Global warming they keep on talking about! The weather was superb. In fact, on a few days the temperature reached to over 35 degrees – amazing for this time of year.

Cyprus is a great place to visit.

In the past I have had people telling me that they think Cyprus is an 18 – 30 destination – but they are  wrong thinking this. Yes, there are clubs open till the early hours in Ayia Napa but that is in one small area. There is so much else to see.

There are mountain villages – did you know you can ski in the Troodos Mountains in the winter? What about the traditional tavernas where you can experience a wonderful meze, sometimes up to 30 dishes that can be enjoyed under a star filled sky. You can still find beautiful sandy beaches that don’t have loud music, jet skis and the like – but if you want action, you don’t have to look too far to find it.

It’s really easy to get about too. They drive on the same side of the road as we do, the traffic signs are all in English but,  if you don’t fancy driving, then the local buses are cheap and clean. Why not take a boat trip from Protaras to the ghost town of Famagusta. Whilst on holiday I read a book  about Famagusta, – set in the 1970’s, it really opened my eyes. It must of been a fantastic place to visit back then – definitely a jet setters paradise back then.

There is so much tradition and culture. Why not give it a try when you are looking for your next land based adventure.
