Save me the Single Supplement…

Hello everyone, in days of doom and gloom stories I found this lovely story this week that really bought a smile to my face and I hope it does to you too..

Man Books £3,500 Cruise With Stranger 40 Minutes After Meeting

Introducing Vera Burrell, 90 years old, from Sudbury in Suffolk whilst away on a holiday in Bournemouth she was out on a coach trip when she stopped for lunch at a pub in Winchester..

Also introducing John Mason, Age 91, from Bishop’s Waltham in Hampshire… who happens to visit the same pub in Winchester.

When Mr Mason arrived the pub was extremely crowded and he asked Ms Burrell if ok to share her table.. little did she know what was to follow.  After talking over lunch you can imagine her absolute surprise when he asked her to go on a cruise with him and they then both went across the road to the Travel Agents (sadly didn’t phone Cruise.co.uk !!) to book them on a £ 3500 cruise.  After expressing his worry of not being able to read the ship’s cabin door numbers and menus, it was clear Mr Mason wanted a companion but Ms Burrell said she was still“stunned into silence” at his offer.

“My aim in life is to go on cruises- I’ve never done one! I can’t believe I’m doing this”, stated Ms Burrell whilst Mr Mason made it clear: “I’m not forward but I grasped the opportunity”.

The next time the pair met was when he opened the door of their cabin on board the P&O Azura a few weeks later… Both of them insisted there was no romance but they “couldn’t be more glad” about the the time they shared and have become fantastic companions and Ms Burrell is considering Mr Mason’s proposal… not of marriage, but to go on another cruise next year. !!

(Picture is NOT actually Mr Mason & Ms Burrell !!…. )

Mr Mason’s daughter said “The mood just took him. He met someone he liked and got on with and I think that he thought, ‘Why not?”.

What an absolutely lovely story…
