My First Date with a Celebrity…

This year is seeing many “firsts” for me personally in Cruising, having just recently returned from my 1st cruise with NCL for my own holiday I am now off to embark on my First Celebrity Cruise – and this is set to be a fantastic way to experience the ship and Celebrity as a Cruise Line whilst attending a Seminar@Sea consisting of various workshops to learn about the product…. I know that very few people ever believe me when I say that it is work – however this itinerary really does involve actual classroom sessions and I have a packing list including a brochure and note pad and pen !!..

So it really is in EVERYONE’s interest that I do experience different cruise lines – and I am really looking forward to sailing on the Celebrity Eclipse.  I am departing Southampton on Wednesday 18th October, following 2 days at sea, arriving in to the stunning port of Funchal on Madeira on Saturday where the ship is docked overnight.  Departing on Sunday for the Canary Island of Tenerife where I will sadly have to disembark – and leave fellow passengers to enjoy the rest of their cruise – and fly back to the UK.

I have been allocated a Verandah Stateroom with main restaurant dining, although the group organiser has said that we will try to get to eat in at least 1 of the many speciality restaurants on board.

The Eclipse has a very intriguing feature of a “lawn club” area – Celebrity Cruises exclusively designed area on the top deck with 1/2 an acre of REAL GRASS.. where you are able to play outdoor games, listen to a concert or grab an al fresco lunch.

One of the “entertainment” options I am most looking forward to hopefully getting to try – or at least watch, which is meant to be as funny – is the Silent Disco.  This is where people dance to music they are listening to on wireless headphones, with people all listening to different tunes at the same time.
