Ciao… I am Sailing

As you read this I will have started my own holiday – and yes you have guessed it I am off on a cruise…

Firstly I will be spending 3 nights in the Mestre area of Venice to explore this beautiful city which I must admit to having never been to before (other than landing at the airport for a transfer to Trieste in April)  I am looking forward to strolling around the beautiful streets, stopping for an ice-cream or a coffee in a lovely square and also to exploring the waterways of Venice and possibly the nearby Islands..

Following our short City break, myself and my Husband are then embarking on the Norwegian Star (NCL Cruise Lines).. I have never actually cruised with NCL so this will be a great new experience for me and I am very much looking forward to experiencing their Freestyle concept – lots of different dining options with anytime flexibility and very informal.  Also we have the added benefit of an All inclusive drinks package, so along with my fairly well planned extras already purchased should hopefully not come off with too high a cabin account bill… that is unless I end up treating myself to a visit to the Spa – after all I am away for my Birthday !!..

Our cruise itinerary takes us to:

Croatia – both Dubrovnik & Split – where in both ports I have pre-booked special Game of Thrones tours.. keeping hubby happy.

Montenegro – Kotor, an absolutely beautiful port that I actually visited in April on the Majestic Princess so just going to get the tender ashore and wander at our own leisure here

Greece – Pireaus, the port for Athens – where we have tickets booked for the hop-on hop-off bus and will take in the Acropolis; and also the port of Katakolon, gateway to Olympia – where here I have no set plans at the moment and will see how the mood takes us as to what we do…

Will catch up with you in a couple of weeks time when I am back for my verdict on NCL and the full low down on Venice and this wonderful Adriatic itinerary…
